]]>This film is centered around the third person to hold the mantle of Spider-Man in the comics, Miles Morales, a half-black, half-hispanic teenager introduced in 2011 by Brian Michael Bendis in the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book which ran from 2001 to 2014. Miles took up the mantle of Spider-Man after the ultimate Peter Parker died. After the 2015 event Secret Wars (Not to be confused with the Secret Wars event of the 1970’s), Miles integrated into the main continuity as a part of Marvel’s “All New, All Different” branding, and has remained a consistent part of the comics, even being a part of the team book The Champions. The trailer also introduces our first look at Gwen Stacy as Spider-Gwen. She was introduced in the 2014 event Spider-Verse (From which the film derives its title) written by Dan Slott, which saw Spider-People (and an anthropomorphic pig called “Spider-Ham” [Secret Identity: Peter Porker]) team up to stop a group of creatures who were going around the multiverse eating other Spider-Men. The short story is that Spider-Gwen is from an alternate universe where Gwen Stacy was bitten by the spider and Peter Parker turned into The Lizard and well… (Spoiler Alert) died. Gwen then continued to be Spider-Woman and after the success of the Spider-Verse story, got her own ongoing series and a huge fan base along with it.
(POTENTIAL SPOILERS)
The plot of this film is pretty vague from the trailer, but it seems to focus on Miles becoming Spider-Man after the Peter Parker of his universe dies in battle against a massive Green Goblin. Another Peter Parker comes to Miles’ universe and teaches him to be Spider-Man, hence the two very different looking Spider-Men in the first trailer. This is all speculation, but I would not expect the cast to include many more Spider-People, although the alternate Peter Parker did say to “wait for Comic Con”. Liev Schreiber is playing the villain Morlun in the film, who is also the antagonist for the original Spider-Verse story, so it is all up in the air now. Into the Spider-Verse looks to be an amazing animated film to expand the Spider-Man mythos to the film-going public and, as a life-long Spider-Man fan, I am excited to see more from this film.

Spoilers for Infinity War and Potential Spoilers for Avengers 4 Below!
Spider-Man: Far From Home
(Source: Tom Holland)
Before we get too far into discussion, obviously this video was staged to parody Tom Holland’s propensity to spoil upcoming Marvel Movies and reveals, which was initially parodied with the reveal of Infinity War’s Release Date. With the announcement of the new film, fans are already speculating on what Far From Home will be about, given that Peter Parker in the MCU is well…. Dead. We do know a few things about the film, so let’s break it down for you and what this could all mean. Again, potential spoilers for the upcoming film.
(Source: Whatculture.com)
-Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to play Mysterio in the film.
-The title is referencing the fact that Spidey will be leaving New York and heading overseas for a new adventure. The rumored title for the sequel was Spider-Man: Field Trip.
-Robert Downey Jr. has stated that he will not be appearing in Far From Home. After his major role in Homecoming and the father figure role he played for Peter in Infinity War, it would be weird to have Tony Stark not show up at all in Far From Home, which does take place after Avengers 4 (The title of which will most likely not be announced until the end of 2019), it could be assumed that the film might center around the death of Tony Stark and how his prodigy is handling the death.
-The Film begins production in two weeks, so don’t expect any trailers at SDCC, but there may be a teaser before the end of the year.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will be directed by Jon Watts and release sometime in 2019.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War surpassed the $2 billion mark at the global box office yesterday in its 48th day of release. It’s just the fourth film in industry history to reach this milestone, the third to do so in its initial run, and the second to do so from The Walt Disney Studios (joining Star Wars: The Force Awakens).
Domestically, Avengers: Infinity War stands as the fifth highest-grossing film of all time with $656.1 million through June 11, 2018. It holds the record for biggest domestic debut ever with $257.7 million in its opening weekend. It was the No. 1 film for three consecutive weeks and remains in the top five.
Internationally, it is the third highest-grossing release ever with $1.346 billion. Its domestic and international debuts over the April 27 weekend combined for a record-shattering global opening of $640.5 million even without China. The film opened to a massive $199.3 million in China two weeks after the global debut and has gone on to become the third biggest western release ever in the country with $369.7 million to date.
